Why can't I select my Brand Account (e.g., my Gaming Channel)?
The "Switch Channel" button in our extension allows you to switch between different Google Accounts. However, YouTube also allows one Google Account to manage multiple channels (e.g., a personal channel and a "Brand Account").
Due to YouTube API limitations, external applications like Reaction Bridge will always use the default channel associated with your Google Account. You can easily change which channel is the default:
- Make sure you are logged into the correct Google Account on YouTube.
- Go to your Advanced account settings on YouTube. This link will take you there directly.
- If you have a Brand Account, you will see an option to manage your channel or set a default. Ensure the channel you want to use with Reaction Bridge is set as the default.
- After changing the setting, return to the extension's popup and use the "Switch Channel" button to refresh the connection. It should now show your desired channel.
What does the "Switch Channel" button do?
This button is designed to let you switch between different Google Accounts that are logged into your browser. For example, if you have a personal `gmail.com` account and a separate work account, this button will open the Google Account chooser so you can select which identity the extension should use.
It does not switch between different YouTube channels (Brand Accounts) that are managed by the same Google Account. For that, please see the question above.
Why is the extension using my personal channel instead of my Brand Account?
This is a common issue related to how the YouTube API works. By default, third-party applications like Reaction Bridge interact with the default channel associated with your Google Account. You can easily change this:
- Make sure you are logged into the correct Google Account on YouTube.
- Go to your Advanced account settings on YouTube. This link will take you there directly.
- Under "Default channel," select your desired Brand Account from the dropdown menu and save the changes.
- After changing the setting, return to the extension's popup and click the "Switch Channel" button. This will refresh the connection and your Brand Account should now be active.
Is it safe to connect my Google Account?
Yes. Reaction Bridge uses the official and highly secure Google OAuth2 process. This means you sign in directly with Google, and we never see or store your password. We only receive a temporary token that grants specific, limited permissions (like, post a comment, like a video) which you approve during the sign-in process.
You are in full control and can revoke these permissions at any time from your Google Account permissions page.
